Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Emkalvi website and the Emkalvi mobile application (together, the "Service"). The mobile app displays the same educational website inside a secure in-app browser. Emkalvi is a non-profit educational initiative providing free Tamil-medium learning resources for students in grades 1 to 13.

You can use the Service without creating an account. We do not ask for your name, postal address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or payment information.

• Technical request data: when the Service loads, hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically receive information needed to deliver and protect it, such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page, and request date and time.
• Quiz activity: answers and scores are calculated on your device for display during the current quiz. Emkalvi does not save or associate them with an account.
• Messages you choose to send: if you contact us by email or through an external social platform, we receive the details and message you voluntarily provide.

Technical request data is used only to deliver educational content, maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot service failures. Information sent in a support message is used to respond to that request. We do not sell personal information, build advertising profiles, or show third-party advertising.

We use Google Firebase Cloud Firestore to retrieve educational content such as subjects, learning-resource links, and quiz questions. Our hosting and technical infrastructure providers may process limited request data on our behalf to deliver and secure the Service. These providers process information under their own privacy and security terms.

Some learning resources and footer links lead to third-party websites or apps. Their privacy practices apply after you choose to open those services. We do not control their content or data handling.

Emkalvi is intended for school students, including children. No account or personal profile is required, and the Service does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where applicable.

Quiz answers and scores are not saved by Emkalvi. Infrastructure providers retain technical request data according to their operational and security retention periods. Messages sent directly to us are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain relevant records, or meet legal obligations. You may ask us to delete personal information you sent directly to us.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the limited information handled by the Service. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We may update this policy when the Service or its data practices change. The latest version will remain available on this page, and the effective date will be updated.
